International Space Station Sighting

I was staring up at the beautiful night sky while I was out walking Pilot this evening and there it was! The International Space Station.

It is very cool to witness. The ISS has the brightness of a shooting star but the motion of a satellite. Tonight it ventured into view from the northwest around 8:08 pm and I had a solid four minute viewing until it disappeared into the southeast.

I quickly called Jen on the cell to come into the street (yes, a good dark place to stare waxenly into the sky while wearing a black shirt and walking a black dog!). I also managed to phone several other people… some of whom failed to answer my call immediately. You know who you are 🙂 Your loss.

You can track the ISS’s movements here. You put in your location and it will tell you dates, times and elevations for viewing.
